Sinopse

Do incêndio do Museu Nacional do Rio de Janeiro (2018) surge ARDER ÉPICA. Diante das narrativas oficiais que o incêndio silenciou para sempre e atravessado por um segredo familiar, Ribeiro cria uma conferência onde o corpo se converte em voz e em território de disputa. Não propõe reconstruir o perdido, mas reconfigurar a memória numa épica alternativa, que desafia as narrativas patriarcais sobre a memória e propõe novas formas de lembrar desde o coletivo, o corporal, o sagrado e o feminino.

Synopsis

From the fire at the National Museum of Rio de Janeiro (2018) emerges ARDER ÉPICA. Faced with the official narratives that the fire silenced forever, and crossed by a family secret, Ribeiro creates a lecture-performance in which the body becomes voice and a territory of dispute. Rather than proposing the reconstruction of what was lost, the work reconfigures memory into an alternative epic that challenges patriarchal narratives of memory and proposes new ways of remembering—through the collective, the corporeal, the sacred, and the feminine.

TRANSCRIÇÃO DO ÁUDIO: Olá, aqui o Reinaldo Ribeiro, artista do corpo, das artes vivas, das artes cênicas, e eu venho nesse momento contar que eu vou estar apresentando no Farofa o meu próximo projeto, que se chama "Capítulo 1, Arderépica", que eu vou estrear na Europa, na Espanha, em setembro desse ano.

E no Farofa eu vou estar compartilhando um ensaio aberto, vou estar compartilhando algumas imagens e alguns textos. E eu estou muito contente.

A obra fecha uma trilogia que eu venho trabalhando desde 2017, 2018. Se chama Capítulo 1, mas na verdade fecha essa trilogia, uma trilogia que eu comecei pelo Capítulo 3, que se chama Black Through Red, que é mais o meu devenir negro, a minha descoberta de ser uma pessoa negra e racializada na Europa.

O Capítulo 2, que se chama I Am Not an Influencer e Schwarzenegger exterminou o meu futuro, que tem mais a ver com essa questão do olhar da branquitude sobre a outra idade, sobre os outros corpos não brancos.

E o capítulo 1, que eu tomo, é o incêndio do Museu Nacional do Rio de Janeiro, e onde eu exponho uma situação familiar e eu trabalho a questão dos arquivos privados e públicos nesse contexto de leitura performativa.

Para mim é muito importante e vai ser muito emotivo estar voltando no Brasil falando um texto que eu escrevi em espanhol, falando um texto... Faz mais de 20 anos que eu não atuo no Brasil, então, para mim, está sendo muito significativo poder estar compartilhando parte desse projeto, que ainda está em construção, nesse marco tão maravilhoso que é o Farofa.

Transcripton: Hello, this is Reinaldo Ribeiro — an artist of the body, of the live arts, of the performing arts — and I’m here to share that I will be presenting my next project at Farofa, titled Capítulo 1: Arder Épica, which will premiere in Europe, in Spain, in September of this year.

At Farofa, I will be sharing an open rehearsal, presenting some images and texts. I’m very happy about it.
This work closes a trilogy I’ve been developing since 2017, 2018. It’s called Capítulo 1, but in fact it concludes this trilogy — a trilogy I began with Capítulo 3, titled Black Through Red, which focuses on my becoming Black, my discovery of being a Black and racialized person in Europe.

Capítulo 2, titled I Am Not an Influencer and Schwarzenegger Exterminated My Future, deals more with the gaze of whiteness toward otherness, toward non-white bodies.

And Capítulo 1 takes as its starting point the fire at the National Museum of Rio de Janeiro. In it, I expose a family situation and work with the tension between private and public archives within a context of performative reading.

For me, it is very important — and it will be very emotional — to return to Brazil speaking a text I wrote in Spanish. It has been more than 20 years since I last performed in Brazil, so it is deeply meaningful for me to share part of this project, still in progress, within such a wonderful framework as Farofa.

Artista Transoceânico - Bitch conceptual - Amante Afrofuturista Reinaldo Ribeiro (Rio de Janeiro). Seu trabalho transita entre os campos da coreografia e das artes vivas. Investiga o que define como conceito 4P: a relação entre o político, o poético, o pessoal e o patético. Tem interesse especial por uma cena expandida e por práticas que ativam o pensamento e o olhar decolonial. Desenvolve sua carreira como criador e performer entre Argentina e España.

Transoceanic artist — conceptual bitch — Afrofuturist lover, Reinaldo Ribeiro (Rio de Janeiro). His work moves between the fields of choreography and live arts. He investigates what he defines as the 4P concept: the relationship between the political, the poetic, the personal, and the pathetic. He has a special interest in expanded staging and in practices that activate decolonial thinking and ways of seeing. He develops his career as a creator and performer between Argentina and Spain.
